Imagine upending the traditional energy system and giving the power of clean electricity production back to your neighbors. The film We the Power inspires and informs us about the barriers and possibilities for locally owned energy. It also activates people to take power back from big energy companies, because good examples of friends, families and visionaries show us it is possible. The film tells the story of local cooperatives from deep in Germany’s Black Forest to the streets of ancient Girona in Spain and the urban rooftops of London, England, as they pave the way for a renewable-energy revolution and build healthier, more financially stable communities.
October 7th is Sustainability Day at Pakhuis de Zwijger. An evening full talks, screenings about a more healthy, green and sustainable future for everyone. This program is a screening of the film We the Power by Patagonia. After we talk with Beth Thoren (Director of Environmental Action, EMEA at Patagonia) and Siward Zomer (Director Energie Samen) about the vision of Patagonia, empowering citizen initiatives and changing our energy system.
