Previously Play the City and Pakhuis de Zwijger collaborated on the final edition of the Designing Cities For All: RE-generation series with City Games in the Age of Urban AI, where we examined the impact of city games and Urban AI with Ekim Tan, founder of Play the City and director of Game for Cities. This fall, Play the City returns to Pakhuis de Zwijger to host the Games for Cities training!
The Fall 2025 edition of the Games for Cities Training is a five-session professional development programme organised by the Play the City Foundation. It is designed for professionals operating at the intersection of urban planning and social transformation in the Netherlands. As cities face increasingly complex challenges—from inner-city densification and affordable housing to climate adaptation, energy transition, and the rollout of the Omgevingswet—there is a growing need for innovative, collaborative approaches. Games for Cities introduces participants to a hands-on, game-based methodology that fosters collaborative urban decision-making and unlocks creative solutions.
Play the City invites professionals from municipalities, consultancies, design studios, utility companies, and academic institutions to take part in this unique learning experience. The programme runs across five consecutive Thursdays, from 25 September to 30 October 2025, followed by informal drinks and networking. Sessions and the final gathering will be held in Amsterdam, hosted at Pakhuis de Zwijger. To ensure a dynamic and participatory environment, the group is limited to a maximum of 15 participants.
We look forward to welcoming you to the Fall 2025 edition of the Games for Cities Training.
Participation fees:
- €1.200 for PhD students
- €2.400 for senior researchers
