How can we design in a time of metacrisis? Overlapping global challenges such as climate change, economic instability, social inequality, and technological destruction require radically rethinking our current systems. In these complex and uncertain contexts, we call on everyone and designers everywhere to move beyond aesthetic solutions, embracing systems thinking, resilience, adaptability, and, most of all, inclusion.
Following the success of the first edition of the Designing Cities for All (DCFA) programme, we returned in 2023 with the new theme of Re-generation. This edition explores how design can (re)shape and (re)create regenerative cities by, for, and with everyone—and all living beings.
After two more years of DCFA and the release of our first two essay collections—18 Perspectives on Designing Cities for All (2021) and More Perspectives on Designing Cities for All) (2022)—we are thrilled to present the third and final installment in the series. Closing Perspectives on Designing Cities for All is a fresh anthology featuring essays from designers, researchers, urbanists, and other experts, all highlighting the role of inclusive design at the forefront of their work.
Pre-order your copy now! Official release on 22nd October.
Essays by:

This final publication reflects the end of the Designing Cities For All: RE-generation, Pakhuis de Zwijger’s two-year research and presentation programme, approach, and manifesto focusing on the role of designers in shaping and creating cities for, by and with everyone. While the first and second essay bundles each reflect the first and second years of DCFA, this third and last publication reflects the final two years (2023-2024). All three publications, with the Design Principles booklet, are a culmination of the whole DCFA trajectory over the past four years.
