For our 3rd edition under the theme Rituals the Fifth Friday Sisterhood invites you to join us for the subject ‘Light’. In the Northern hemisphere, the darker days of winter demand rituals of light around this time. From Diwali to Christmas to Chanukah to Shab-eh Yalda to Kwanzaa, and beyond, we are celebrating light, reminding ourselves that the sun will return. Light is also a time traveller. It’s made up of photons that can be both waves and particles. These photons can travel both backward and forward through time. They relay the grand stories of existence, bringing us news of suns and planets that no longer exist, storing the secrets to the multiverse in their beings, fuelling our imaginations. What stories does light tell? What is light in this season of light, in this ever lit city of Amsterdam, where the night sky is the reflection of the lit landscape below? What does light even mean to us? Come and discover what ‘Light’ means to our storytellers and join us in celebrating the brighter days ahead. The main focus of the Fifth Friday Sisterhood is to create safe spaces and places and be welcoming and open to all and everyone, so please do remember to be mindful when you visit us.
Doors open at 19.30, performances start at 20.00.
