On Thursdays Pakhuis de Zwijger turns into Pakhuis Kino. A film night accompanied by a snack of De Vrouw met de Baard, followed by a talk where we dive deeper on some of the themes or the creation process. Doesn’t this all sound like a formula for a good Thursday evening? During these nights we will view a film that invites us to look a little differently at not only the world, but also the film itself. After the screening we will discuss the creative process behind the film: how do you capture a story, and which choices does a filmmaker make to depict reality? Tonight we will be screening the documentary F*CK DRUGS.
Do you need drugs to have ecstatic sex? In this film, directed by Jesse Bleekemolen and Rein van Leeuwen, we see how Davo (22), Anthony (33), and Erik (61) explore their boundaries in the world of chemsex and push them further and further. Chemsex is (group) sex under the influence of drugs, a phenomenon that is becoming increasingly common among queer men. Does it concern boundless pleasure and sexual freedom, or rather inner emptiness and the fear of real intimacy in an age of individualism and increasing loneliness? The film explores the world of chemsex in a liberating, honest, and ecstatic, yet also critical and uncomfortable way. And it asks the question: is there still a way back after blissful sex under the influence of drugs?
After the film screening the will be an aftertalk with the directors of the documentary, Rein van Leeuwen & Jesse Bleekemolen. This aftertalk will be moderated by famous drag queen Ma’Ma Queen.
