New Urban Agenda

Identifying and addressing global urban challenges

Habitat III is the United Nations Conference on Housing and Sustainable Urban Development that took place in Quito from 17-20 October 2016. With the conference, UN-Habitat aimed to identify and address new and emerging urban challenges by means of the New Urban Agenda, adopted by the 197 countries that make up the United Nations. An ever-growing global urban population calls for a revival of the global commitment to sustainable urbanisation and the implementation of the New Urban Agenda. This programme series explores urban challenges around the world and the people and organisations who address them through local initiatives, design and research and innovative policy interventions.
