Somehow architects in search for new topics, new economics, and new clients are thought to produce only small-scale, bottom-up, temporary projects. However, some can boast on an international career working on large scale projects for big clients, responding to climate issues, public space, product development or public buildings like museums, libraries, and concert halls. This evening will focus on 3 successful European practices that have reached international recognition while at the same time tackling important issues in innovating practices.

We will start with an introduction by Indira van ’t Klooster (author of Reactivate! Innovators of Dutch architecture, editor-in-chief of A10 new European architecture). Followed by three successful European practices that have reached international recognition while at the same time tackling important issues in innovating practices.
- Julien De Smedt is the founding partner of JDSA and will do a presentation on his work in Denmark, Belgium, and China (ranging from highrise to product design).
- Juho Gronholm (Finland) is the founding partner of ALA Architects and will present their work on public buildings in Scandinavia and India (starting from a highly productive Finnish competition system).
- Andrus Koresaar is the founding partner of KOKO architects and will talk about the transformation of post-communist Estonia and international projects in Italy and Finland
Last but not least, we will launch the Forty & Famous, 10 interviews with young European architects.
