Twenty eight year old Australian quirk-folk songstress Rachel Gorman has arrived in Amsterdam with two suitcases, a guitar, a ukelele and a whole lot of stories to tell. Having forged a steady following in her native Western Australia over the past 8 years, she has started afresh in Europe, but is already charming audiences with her honest storytelling, thoughtful lyrics and playful melodies. Drawing on her coastal roots, Irish heritage and rural upbringing, her music tells of lost loves, pirates, pigeons and kite-flying, with the occasional haiku thrown in for good measure.
In 2010 she received an award with the band Rachel& Henry climb a hill for her songwriting, winning the WAM folk-song of the year with the song ‘The Silver Yacht’. The playful charming singer went solo and released already three Ep’s which made a happy cheerfull collection of songs.
