Follow the fearless journey of Waorani leader Nemonte Nenquimo as she fights to protect the Amazon, alongside stories of resilience from the Philippines to India. With insights from icons like Jane Goodall and Paul Hawken, this film shows that we cannot fix the climate without fixing our societies. And that the world’s most effective environmental leaders are often the ones the system ignores. Upon watching the film, we’ll talk with co-director Jaime Bartolomé and climate activist Chihiro Geuzebroek about the power of hope in times like ours.
About the speakers
Chihiro Geuzebroek is a singer-songwriter of protest music and a maker of speculative songs for peace. Since 2009, she has been a critical voice drawing attention to climate racism within green movements, organizations, cultural institutions, and politics. She created the climate justice feature documentary *Radical Friends* (2014), organized a climate bloc in anti-racism demonstrations and a decolonial bloc at climate marches, and has given hundreds of talks in around 15 countries on Indigenous rights, decolonization, and climate.
Jaime Bartolomé is a comedian, improviser, scriptwriter, and professor of screenwriting and stand-up. His filmography includes titles such as Ozzy and Neckan, alongside TV series like Aída and 7 vidas. He wrote and directed the project HOPE! We Are In Time and is the author of the novel Film School.
