This year Amsterdam will welcome many new residents. People who fled their country and who have found a safe shelter in our city. These newcomers will have to find their place in our society and we are keen to help them. Join this 12th episode of our informal Eat to Meet dinner where you get the chance to meet (new) Amsterdammers.
With a stand-up comedy performance by
The newcomers in our country bring all kinds of talents, knowledge and skills. The wish and the skills to build a new life are often there, but what’s often missing is a network. This is where the locals come in; they have the opportunity to enrich and share their network on this evening.
During dinner we will enjoy a stand-up comedy performance by Neil Robinson. Arriving in 2008 from Canada, Neil quickly got attached to the Dutch and decided to stay. Fascinated by the peculiarities of the Dutch, Neil started the online sketch channel “Survival Guide to the Dutch”. In his performance Neil will highlight some of the strange customs the Dutch have taken up and give you some guidance on how to deal with them.
Good to know
- Dinner is offered for free to newcomers. Important notice: in the near future our policy will change, which is why we advise locals to pay a donation of 20 euros. This includes a three-course meal, drinks, music and a contribution to the travel expenses of newcomers.
- We strive to an equal participation of locals and new Amsterdammers.
- We organize this event on a regular basis, so you will be sure of a seat at our dinner table next time.
