A complex reality can never be simplified into a story about right and wrong. That is definitely the case when it comes to the Syrian revolution. This cinematographic essay by documentary maker Thomas Vroege focuses on interviews with four residents of Aleppo. They share their personal experiences. Three of them have fled, one interviewee still lives in Aleppo and saw the development of the armed conflict right under the window of his apartment. Images of a city in ruins where life continues are accompanied by lamentations of a female voice singing about the tragedy of the revolution and war. Film screening and after talk.
