On Wednesday, February 12 we will be hosting a meetup with selected creatives on Distributed Design and how we can boost its impact. We have four spots left and looking for creative players, makers, designers, artists, architects, scientists, students, and others. Are you the one we are looking for?
Distributed Design is one outcome of the intersection of two global trends: the Maker Movement and the digitisation of the design discipline. This convergence has lead to the rise of a new market, in which creative individuals have access to digital tools that allow them to design, produce and fabricate products themselves or easily connect to a global network of collaborators to undertake aspects of this process with them. We call this process and the subsequent market which is emerging from these trends, Distributed Design.
In 2020, as part of the global network Distributed Design Market Platform, several local activities will be organised in Amsterdam. The results of this particular meetup will be used as input for workshops (accessible to everyone, free of charge) and a big Distributed Design meetup in April, with keynotes and presentations on creating impact and stimulating new developments within the Distributed Design field by designers and makers. Extra attention will be given to distributed design in relation to a future of unprecedented resource scarcity and environmental change, exploring alternative infrastructure and design models.
Are you a designer or maker and want to showcase your distributed design work through the platform? Are you a student or expert working on new business or manufacturing models for distributed design? And do you have ideas on how distributed design can reduce the ecological footprint of products, democratise the access to quality design and expand the market for designers, makers, and manufacturers even more? In that case, we are looking for you! We have four spots left for this meetup. We would love to hear from you and involve you in this conversation.
Date: Wednesday, February 12
Time: 16.00 – 18.00
Location: Pakhuis de Zwijger, Piet Heinkade 181 Amsterdam
You can sign up for this meetup through this Typeform and tell us who you are!
About Distributed Design Market Platform
The Distributed Design Market Platform (DDMP) is a project funded by the European Union through the Creative Europe fund, that fosters the role of emerging Makers and Designers as part of this new digitized world. It celebrates, supports and inspires these professionals from across Europe and provides opportunities to support the mobility and circulation of their work to connect them with new, digital markets. It consists of both online and offline activities such as events, resources, workshops, fairs and boot camps that promote and advocate for emerging creative talent in Europe and their business productivity and sustainability.
