Update: this vacancy is closed
Pakhuis de Zwijger has ambitions beyond the borders of Amsterdam and The Netherlands. We are working on developing and expanding New Europe – Cities in Transition, a network of bottom-up initiatives, active citizens, creative entrepreneurs and innovative professionals from all the 28 capitals of the European Union.
With New Europe we explore the complex urban transition topics of our time. Many European cities appear to be dealing with the same issues and developments: social innovation, sustainable area development and housing, a new approach to recycling and raw materials, vacancy and reuse, placemaking, and quality of public space. Our goal is to further expand the on- and offline platform whereby European City Makers can exchange knowledge and experiences.
Are you a creative and ambitious student willing to build our newly established network together with our editorial team? Do you have a cosmopolitan outlook and affinity with European topics? Are you looking for an exciting internship that allows you to combine your research, writing and editing skills? Then we are looking for you! We are looking for an intern who will support Charlot and Floortje with maintaining the website and also in producing the program series Urban Movies and various other program series on international urban development.
You will be part of the New Europe – Cities in Transition editorial team and will help expand our network by researching transition movements across European capitals. You will write daily City Reports, interview European City Makers and will regularly put initiatives on the map. Additionally, you will help collect and edit content submitted by local City Ambassadors.
It is important you are enthusiastic about doing research and feel comfortable publishing and editing in English. Living in Amsterdam and some experience with Mac computers is desirable. This vacancy is an unpaid internship for about five months (September ’16 – January ’17) during which you will be working 32 hours a week. Your weekly work hour division will vary somewhat from week to week and can be discussed with us.
If you feel like you are a perfect fit for our editorial internship position, please apply before September 1 2016.
